Pope Francis expressed his belief that the time is now to consider the concept of universal basic income in an Easter Sunday letter about the coronavirus pandemic sent to the leaders of major social justice movements.
You know, if I ever get the chance to speak with
Pope Francis face to face, I will have two things to say to him. First, I would tell him about how he could have new life in Jesus Christ by becoming born again. And second, I would thank him for always giving me something to write about when I need to do an article comparing and contrasting the Church that Jesus shed His blood to start, and the Roman counterfeit. He just never lets me run dry of material, and today is no exception. Today's SJW gospel message? Universal Basic Income!
"So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. Maybe I shouldn't be so hard on
Jorge Mario Bergoglio, after all , every pope before him wasn't saved either, so maybe I shouldn't expect him to use his platform to tell people about Jesus instead of using it to promote the Roman harlot. But that being said, maybe he should stop stealing title and names that apply to God alone, and maybe he should stop pretending that what he preaches is the gospel. It is certainly not the gospel of the grace of God Jesus delivered unto Paul in the Damascus wilderness 2,000 years ago. Universal Basic Income? No thanks.
'No worker without rights': Pope Francis advocates for universal basic income in 'this time of danger'
FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER: “This may be the time to consider a universal basic wage which would acknowledge and dignify the noble, essential tasks you carry out,” Francis wrote. “It would ensure and concretely achieve the ideal, at once so human and so Christian, of no worker without rights.”
The pope also said that some low-income workers “have been excluded from the benefits of globalization.”
“You do not enjoy the superficial pleasures that anesthetize so many consciences, yet you always suffer from the harm they produce,” Francis wrote. “The ills that afflict everyone hit you twice as hard.
“I hope that this time of danger will free us from operating on automatic pilot, shake our sleepy consciences and allow a humanist and ecological conversion that puts an end to the idolatry of money and places human life and dignity at the centre,” he added.
The concept of UBI was amplified by former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang, who advocated for a plan that would give all American adults a "freedom dividend" of $1,000 per month.
