The U.N Security Council “must choose between arming terrorists or standing by the Gulf,” said U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

“Countries in the Middle East from the Gulf to Israel support extending the arms embargo,” tweeted U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recently.
“It is deeply important to every one of them. Arabs and Israelis are speaking with one voice and the Security Council must listen,” he added .
Pompeo’s comments reflect the dire threat Iran poses to the region.
Iran menaces Israel with Hamas in the Gaza Strip and its cells in Judea and Samaria, with its Hezbollah henchmen in the north pointing around 150,000 rockets at the Jewish state from Lebanon.
Hezbollah has also terrorized the Lebanese people for decades, hijacking the parliament, grinding the nation’s economy to a halt, and, according to some, maintaining a 2,700 ton stockpile of ammonium nitrate in Beirut that exploded in a massive blast last week that killed hundreds and left thousands wounded.
Iran is also the puppet-master of the Houthis in Yemen, a group that launches missiles at civilians in Saudi Arabia and brutalizes the local population.
In Syria, Iran props up the Butcher of Damascus, Bashar Assad, who has perpetrated horrific crimes against his own people in a bloody civil war that has dragged on for years.
Israel has also produced evidence that Iran continues to pursue nuclear weapons, a horrifying revelation in light of the fact that the Islamic Republic’s leaders openly state their intention to destroy the Jewish state.
Pompeo’s comments this week were specifically related to a letter sent by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to the U.N. Security Council, demanding that an arms embargo to and from Iran be extended after its October 15, 2020 expiration date. The GCC includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
According to the letter, “[Iran] continue[s] to proliferate conventional weapons and armed terrorist and sectarian organizations and movements throughout the region.”
It also highlights that Iran “has not desisted from armed interventions in neighboring countries, directly and through organizations and movements armed and trained by Iran.”
Pompeo also noted that the U.S. was set to introduce a Security Council resolution “this week to extend the embargo after years of diplomacy.”
