In Stunning Reversal, Pope Francis Tells Coronavirus Quarantined Catholics They Don’t Really Need A Priest To Confess Their Sins To God

by Geoffrey Grider

Pope Francis tells Catholics under coronavirus quarantine to confess their sins directly to God and not the priest in the confessional box.

People who cannot get to confession because of the coronavirus lockdown or another serious reason can go to God directly, be specific about their sins, request pardon and experience God’s loving forgiveness, Pope Francis said.

How well I remember my years as a Catholic, starting as an altar boy and then spending 12 years in the Catholic school system, I can still recall how confusing it all was and how much the priests would constantly contradict themselves. Pope Francis' statement over the weekend urging Catholics under coronavirus quarantine who cannot get to the confessional with a priest to simply confess their sins to God directly is a great example of that. What the...?? Has the pope become a temporary Protestant? Sure sounds like it.
"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity." 1 Timothy 2:5-7 (KJB)
This is where most Catholics fail to make the connection, and understand that no one needs any organized church body to be their mediator between them and God. That's the freedom of the gospel! If you're a Catholic, ask yourself this. If the pope is now telling you to confess your sin directly to God, then why on earth did you ever need to get in a box with priest and tell him what belongs to God's ears only? You didn't! The truth is your priest has never had the ability to forgive your sins, no priest ever has. Only Jesus can do that, and you need to go to Him directly. So do it.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." John 3:16-18 (KJB)
The Roman Catholic Church cannot do anything for you that you cannot do for yourself by simply opening the bible, reading it, believing it and trusting God. If you want to be sure you know where you are going when you die, something no Catholic priest knows, just get saved and become born again. All roads do not lead to Heaven, and the Roman Catholic church is not the "one, true church", they are a counterfeit imposter. If  you never really needed a priest to have your sins forgiven, as Pope Francis is now saying, you don't need a priest for anything else, either.

If you can’t go to confession, take your sins directly to God, Pope Francis shockingly now says

FROM CRUX NOW: “This is the right time, the opportune moment. An act of contrition done well, and our souls will become white like the snow,” the pope said March 20 during his live-streamed morning Mass.
(EDITOR'S NOTE: Isn't it amazing how quickly they can change the "never changing doctrine" of the Catholic Church? This is what their own teachings say about confession, and now because of the coronavirus, Catholics suddenly don't need the priest they told you your whole life  you needed? I quoted the Catechism below, read it. Come on, now, think!)
"Confession to a priest is an essential part of the sacrament of Penance: "All mortal sins of which penitents after a diligent self-examination are conscious must be recounted by them in confession, even if they are most secret and have been committed against the last two precepts of the Decalogue"  Catechism of the Catholic Church
Pope Francis began the Mass by praying again for doctors, especially in northern Italy, where the COVID-19 pandemic still is infecting thousands and leading to the deaths of hundreds of people each day.
Italy began a nationwide lockdown March 10 in an attempt to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Churches are open for private prayer and priests can hear confessions if they are wearing a mask and gloves and stay more than 3 feet away from the penitent. But people are being encouraged not to leave their homes at all.

“Return to your father who is waiting for you,” the pope said. “The God of tenderness will heal us; he will heal us of the many, many wounds of life and the many ugly things we have done. Each of us has our own!”
God welcomes every repentant sinner with open arms, he said. “It’s like going home.” Lent is a special time “to let God wash us, purify us, to let God embrace us,” the pope said, and the best place for that is the confessional.
“But many people today would tell me, ‘Father, where can I find a priest, a confessor, because I can’t leave the house? And I want to make peace with the Lord, I want him to embrace me, I want the Father’s embrace.'”
The pope said his response would be, “Do what the Catechism (of the Catholic Church) says. It is very clear: If you cannot find a priest to confess to, speak directly with God, your father, and tell him the truth. Say, ‘Lord, I did this, this, this. Forgive me,’ and ask for pardon with all your heart.”
Make an act of contrition, the pope said, and promise God, “‘I will go to confession afterward, but forgive me now.’ And immediately you will return to a state of grace with God.” READ MORE
