For King and his Kingdom – a combined church event on 22nd September
Between 15-20 Newport churches will be supporting a combined Sunday morning service at the Newport Centre this month. Some of them will be closing the doors of their own churches in order to worship together. Other churches will stay open locally as usual but encourage people from their congregations to attend this special joint event. Hundreds of people are expected to gather, to declare their unity in Christ and to affirm that all we do as church is for the King and for his Kingdom.
James Aladiran will be the speaker. James is the founder and director of Prayer Storm and is an instrumental figure in the UK for catalysing the church into prayer. (He spoke at Spring Harvest this year on “Developing a passion for prayer”.) There will be a full children’s provision available, from Reception age to Year 6, run by a team of people from the children’s and youth work in the various churches. Other teams of people from across the churches will be involved in the set-up, welcome, car parking, media, prayer etc.
The morning event will be followed in the afternoon by a Leaders Time Together with James Aladiran (2.00-3.30pm). This is open to all ministers and church leaders, and in particular any who are unable to be there for the service in the morning will be very welcome to come along in the afternoon, to have the opportunity to meet with other church leaders, and to hear what James has to share. (Venue to be confirmed once numbers are known.)
The event is being organised by a team of ministers and leaders from various Newport churches, including Clyde Thomas, Justin Groves, Kobby Poku, Heath van Staden and Andrew Cleverly. For more information and/or to book in for the afternoon Leaders Time, please email churchnewportcentre@gmail.com.
